Richard at Big Sky Buckeye posted this picture and quote today: “

Where there’s hope, there’s life. Look at how a single candle can both defy and define the darkness.
Anne Frank Quotes”
It struck me in the heart.
In the last two years, six months, and two days,
since Larry went on
to his next great adventure,
I have experienced the lowest of lows
followed by
redeeming grace
that could only have come
from God.
Every
single
time
I found myself
mired in the rock-bottom pit of despair
a candle of hope
appeared in the distance
drawing me in
like a moth to flame.
Sometimes that candle was
a kind word in response to a blog post.
a text message at just the right time,
calls from family and friends,
children’s concern,
grandchildren’s giggles,
a dream,
gratitude,
a change in perspective,
drawing closer to God,
and people who could only have been put in my path by God to share my life.
All brought light to my darkness
and hope to my soul,
resulting in peace unlike any I have ever experienced.
Today my life is beyond my wildest dreams two years, six months, and two days ago.
My circle has enlarged with friends who encourage while some have been left by the wayside.
I have a wonderful husband who loves me for me and prays for me daily. He accepts my imperfections as I do his and understands that Larry was a part of me.
Perhaps Larry put in a good word in heaven for me when he was asking questions of our Creator God, but I am immeasurably blessed to have two great loves in my life who came along at just the right time.
Still, candles of hope continue light my occasional darkness…

As we prepare to wrap up the year 2021
I will strive to burn candles to light the way for all to find paths of hope for a new year filled with peace and joy.
Peace and joy that can only come from trusting God.
The Apostle Paul wrote:
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
Philippians 4:6-9
I wish you Peace that passes all human understanding.
XO Lisa ❤️
Amen! Lisa, I appreciate your reflections on Christ’s guiding light. Hope grows from the smallest flame to illuminate our way in Christ. I pray that my Mom, who has been overwhelmed with heartbreaking setbacks in the past year, will begin to reopen her faith and herself to the tiniest flame. It will never cease in lighting her way.
