With this ring…
We said, “I do!”
My SO fiancée is now my Husband!
We started the day out with Bill’s Uncle Dan from Nashville, a minister, who provided felicitous advice and scripture over the phone:
The most meaningful points were to:
“Watch our words,”
act from a place of kindness,
discuss rather than argue,
and when he expounded on the marriage relationship as outlined by Paul in Ephesians 5:21-33.
Dan then asked us to express what we loved about one another, tears were shed, and he exclaimed that we were husband and wife before G-d, and we should now go make it legal.
The second stop was to meet our officiant who would take care of the legalities.
After we answered the obligatory “are either of you under duress or the influence of any mind-altering substances” questions, he signed the legal marriage license and certificate.
Of course there was laughter and story telling involved.
Afterwards we walked to Squires Castle to pose for pictures. Special thanks to good friends Wendi and Jon for agreeing to photograph our special day and then treating us to breakfast.
It was a perfect morning from start to finish, but there’s one more story to tell:
The occurrence may seem inconsequential, but it describes my new husband’s heart in a nutshell and touched my soul to its very depths.
If I might direct your attention to the bottom left photo, you’ll notice that I am wearing three rings…
The outside ring was my 11th anniversary gift from Larry. I had it on my right hand when the day started.
After we exchanged rings, Bill told me to move it over to my left hand because it belonged there with ours and Larry will always be a part of me.
I cried…
