They’re out of the molds and cut!

The house smells heavenly…

Batches One Through Four

Now they sit to cure!

I learned a lot making those four batches:

I like the plain best – we all know I’m a bit weird by now

Essential oils seem to work better than fragrance oils

Don’t over mix

and always let hubby mix the lye into the water (so he says)

My bff Wendi and I went to a soap making class at the His Daughter shop in Middlefield on Thursday.

Felicia is great and not shy about passing along her knowledge gained over the years!

I highly recommend stopping by to pick up some of her luscious goodies if you’re ever in Middlefield, Ohio!

As for my new hobby-

I am in hook, line, and sinker!

In a few weeks we’ll have ready to use allergy-free soap without harsh chemicals

showers will be heavenly!

I think I’ll make some more this weekend…

Lisa, it’s awesome that you found more expertise about soap making in Middlefield. My wife have visited the area 2-3 times, while we stayed in Burton at the Red Maple Inn. We’re thinking of making another trip.

What a great connection! Let us know if you return – would love to meet up! We love Middlefield – my best friend in the whole world and her husband live out there. – Lisa

Lisa, thank you for sharing this note. At the moment, Colleen and I haven’t made any plans to return the Burton/Middlefield area. We have stayed at the Red Maple Inn in Burton and thoroughly enjoyed staying there. The property has been sold and no longer operates as a wonderful bed and breakfast. As our future plans develop, I will stay in touch. Blessings to you and your husband.
