201 Gratitude Around the Yard

“She decided to free herself, dance into the wind, create a new language. And birds fluttered around her, writing “yes” in the sky.”

― Monique Duval

It’s no secret by now that I love my little slice of heaven working from home with a view of three birdfeeders and the front yard.

For a quick break I can sneak out on to the side porch to catch the finches at the two thistle feeders and hopefully a hummingbird as well.

Yesterday’s purple finches were so exciting. I had one last year and thought of Larry every time I saw the proud bird primping, posing, and showing off.

Here are my happy views from last evening and early this morning:

A sweet fawn playing in the front yard:

A dragonfly who played hide and seek amongst the ivy on the side of the house. When I cropped the picture I noticed that it was looking right at me…

A beautiful adult Goldfinch. I learned something new this week: Goldfinches do not develop the black band on their heads until adulthood.

“O Heavenly Children, do not forget that God is here, there and everywhere. The birds are his eyes and the air is his ears. And as you sleep, your heart and soul rest naked before him. He can drink from the rivers of your thoughts, and even feel the wetness of your tears.”

Trying to get the last bits out of the feeder…

Non-bird visitors to the front yard feeder. Now I only fill them in the morning!

“This life is yours. Take the power to choose what you want to do and do it well. Take the power to love what you want in life and love it honestly. Take the power to walk in the forest and be a part of nature. Take the power to control your own life. No one else can do it for you. Take the power to make your life happy.”

― Susan Polis Schutz

My wish for anyone reading this is to find your happy places as I have found mine!

XO Lisa ❤️
