Grateful Gratitude Series Service

Gratitude 161 Service

Tonya Meier (via Facebook “Inspirations by Tonya”) Shared with permission.

“Let that sink in. Are we serving others? Seriously, in our “it’s all about me” society where we are consumed with being better, having more, getting ahead, being in the know, having the right image….. the thought of serving others gets lost in the messages we get from the world around us. Let’s remember, it’s really not about us. It’s about HIM. We get wrapped up in the notion that to be happy we must be more, have more & do more, but what if the real secret to joy is to give more, serve more & love more? What if we learned to humbly serve others and unconditionally love people – not just the ones we like but the ones we really don’t, too? What if, even on our last day, we were looking for ways to have a selfless, serving attitude? That’s a goal worth having. 💗”

I saw this status update on Social the other day and immediately reached out to the author to ask for permission to share.

It hit me right in my soul, all the feels.

These days, it’s easy to get lost in oneself,

let molehills turn into mountains.

Things that wouldn’t normally have bothered turn into betrayals of the highest magnitude.

Personally, I believe that there are evil forces at work trying to swing the world to the dark side of the pendulum.

The only way we can stop the pervasive evil is to be more like Christ:

Humble

Joyful

Selfless

Give More

Love Unconditionally

Serve Others.

and

Grateful.

My days are much better when I don’t let my mind run away with what ifs and worries about world events that I have no control over.

The same goes with worrying about the future.

26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? 28 So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Matthew 6: 26-34

We know, as Paul Harvey used to say “The rest of the story.”

It’s all laid out in G-d’s word.

G-d wins! Hallelujah.

This week, Holy Week, focus on G-d and his grace.

Focus on the agony G-d endured when H- sent H-s son to earth as a sacrifice for all of humanity.

Focus on Jesus and his strength to go through with the plan. He was part human after all, he could have said “Ya know, I can’t do this…”

Focus on serving others to banish worry.

Focus on the birds whose needs are met and know that yours will be as well if you only trust in G-d.

And most of all, find a way to serve others.

Be a blessing to another.

  3. Amen! Lisa, your witness and sharing of this post is a blessing. When we stay focused on the Lord and serve Jesus, the world’s trials take a backseat. God’s peace, and yes, God is the rest of the story.

  4. So grateful to read this from you! It all boils down to seeking God’s will for us, asking for the power to carry that out, and always doing the next right thing! Love you, sister!❤
