Changing thinking – what a topic….

“Stay positive. Sometimes you don’t even realize you’re blocking your own blessings by thinking negatively and holding on to the past. Learn to let go.”

Germany Kent

Letting go of the past

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t–you’re right.”

Henry Ford

I tried for a while to think heart over head.

It was a trap, in my humble opinion.

Made me too soft.

Decidedly too vulnerable.

“Five percent of the people think;
ten percent of the people think they think;
and the other eighty-five percent would rather die than think.”

Thomas A. Edison

A woman alone (read living alone) must be strong, steady, able to survive and defend herself.

Not vulnerable and falling for every new idea, person, or influence that comes her way.

Had I continued down the “heart over head” path, I might have been one of the cult kool-aid drinkers dying somewhere on a peninsula.

I am not a drinker of kool-aid of any sort.

Nor am I a follower, sheeple, or lemming ready to run with the herd over a cliff to certain destruction.

“The third-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the majority. A second-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the minority. A first-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking.”

A.A. Milne

I cannot be controlled.

I am a thinker.

Sometimes I overthink.

I can change my thinking, try to stay positive, and listen to and consult my heart.

“Life is a comedy to those who think, a tragedy to those who feel.”

Jean Racine

I do feel

deeply.

But I hold back to avoid hurt.

“Words make you think. Music makes you feel. A song makes you feel a thought.”

Yip Harburg

I will leave you with this:

“I was thinking lots of things, but most of them needed to stay thoughts, not words.”

Maggie Stiefvater, Forever
