Today I am grateful for
the last year of my life.
Last year at this time I never dreamed that I would be able to say those words out loud, much less believe them.
But I am grateful
that I was completely decimated
that I was forced to examine every corner of my being
every belief
every thought
every shadow.
I am grateful that I was forced to make the decision to live or die
over and over and over again.
I am grateful that I was forced to decide what I wanted
for me and only me.
I am grateful that I chose to grow
to never give up.
I am grateful that I am still here.
