Thankful Challenge III

Rise Up and Be Thankful

Thankfulness, in a world of uncertainty-

media spewing worst-case scenarios,

virus spreading, people dying,

cities on lock-down,

countries in crisis,

what on earth

do we have to be thankful for?

If we listen to the noise, nothing…

If we listen to our hearts, everything…

I am thankful that my daughter

is on a plane and on her way

home from London.

I am thankful to be here,

just so thankful that hopelessness

did not win in my life.

I am thankful to be sitting at my desk

working from home,

eating yogurt and a banana for lunch,

with music playing in the background.

I am thankful for friends

who lift me up

send messages, call,

and listen to the nudges

to contact me

at just the right time.

I am thankful for family

who are planning camping adventures

for the future.

I am thankful to be alive-

when just 24 days ago

I had planned my exit-

If not for this friend,

and a text out of the blue

with encouraging words and kindness,

I would not be here today

I owe him a debt that I can never repay.

For these reasons,

and many more,

I am grateful,

I am thankful,

and I am blessed!

My friends, no matter

what our minds tell us,

what the world says,

what the news says,

what the virus does,

we all can find just one reason

to rise up and be thankful!

It just may change our lives.

I can testify that it changed mine…

I wish you peace, joy, love, kindness,

and a thankful heart.

XO Lisa
