Darkness
all around
covers pulled up over one’s head while lying in bed
eyes closed
afraid to open
lest the darkness take over
blackness invading the innermost being
the soul.
I have experienced that darkness
lived in it
let it overtake me.
Until
I
Looked
Up
Into the night sky
to see the stars shining their light.

Stars shine unencumbered
night after night
whether covered in clouds or visible
they are still there
shining in the dark.

Bringing hope

I have always preferred
night to day
darkness over light.
My darkness and shadows will
most certainly
always
exist.
They have been
a part of me
since I can
remember
I embrace them fully now.

I will
choose
to
look
up
and
see
the
stars.
