Grateful for Fun with Family

My son posted this tribute to his wife and my daughter-in-love today on social media.
Of course I had to chime in…

Our exchange may have the appearance of snark, but it’s all in jest with great love thrown in.
My adult son (really, both my children) and I have always had a no-holds-barred-say-it-as-you-see-it-and-I-don’t-give-a-flying-fuck-what-you-think type of relationship. Sometimes the verbal exchanges can get rather loud and heated. I guess that is the consequence of being raised by a badass mother who is a bit too reality-based and a little crazy.
But better to communicate real feelings and opinions than hold back, correct?
However, to those who aren’t used to this type of communication, it can seem rather strange and intimidating.
My love Larry, when listening to conversations between my children and I over the years, would remark about supposed disrespect. I would shoot that down instantly, saying that I would rather communicate openly and passionately than not at all.
I am so happy that both my children have strong opinions, voices, and are not afraid to be loud and proud.
I am proud of both of them for using their unique gifts,
that they give me crap regularly
and I give it right back
… all laced with “I love you more” until the end of time.
I guess that is the consequence of being raised by a mother who is a bit too reality-based and a little crazy.

XO Lisa ❤️
