My Beloved’s Dream

You shared a dream with me
You were surrounded by
Your parents and grandparents.
Some you never knew
due to the Shoah

They all came to hug you
Except one grandfather
He stood with his arms crossed-
and just nodded.

You hesitated to share,
Because you thought I would think
they were coming to get you.
My response was that if they
were coming to get you, you would
already be gone…
But perhaps they came to encourage.
To let you know they would be there
waiting, when you arrived
