Beautiful Sorrow

When a friend mentioned
that my sorrow was beautiful
I was taken aback.

In the midst of my grief and pain
I didn’t understand how
sorrow could be beautiful.

I thought about it and
realized that it is impossible
to mourn someone one does not love.

Deep love requires deep mourning.
To do any less, would be
to deny that love existed.

To shove down the emotions
would be to forget that
I loved deeply and
was loved deeply in return.

Grieving fully is the
best way to show love.
Grief never truly ends…
