new life

S.T.O.P.

Illness is the night side of life, a more onerous citizenship. Everyone who is born holds dual citizenship, in the kingdom of the well and in the kingdom of the sick. Although we all prefer to use the good passport, sooner or later each of us is obliged, at least for a spell, to identify ourselves as citizens of that other place.

Susan Sontag, Illness as Metaphor

It got me,

yes, it did

the dreaded flu virus

F

L

U

despite my best intentions

my daily precautions

my willing it not be so.

Look, I know it’s not serious, like a heart attack, or any number of other things, but its forced me to

S.T.O.P.

Worse than that, it’s forced me to do little but lay in bed and sleep- unless nature calls or the dog needs relief.

This is a foreign world that I am rarely acquainted with. I come from a ‘suck it up and move forward’ lineage. Regardless of the situation. But I am not beyond admitting that my butt is kicked.

The worst part…

no music,

no sound,

even crying hurts- so pity is out.

So I’ll just sleep and

S.T.O.P.

for awhile

but not too long…

  1. Do you mind if I quote a few of your articles as long as I provide credit and sources back to your weblog? My blog is in the very same niche as yours and my visitors would really benefit from some of the information you provide here. Please let me know if this ok with you. Many thanks!
