Today’s birthday mantra
be strong, stay together,
remember good.
Until the drive home
when grief hit
like a ton of bricks
a landslide
hurricane
tornado
of grief
swirling
all around
coming down
on my head
settling in my
soul.
I rode out the storm
felt every memory
like bricks thrown
rocks slung
rain billowing
wind raging
each blow
trying to break me
repelled by
cathartic tears –
reminders
that I can still feel pain
without giving up
death will not break me
I am still here
worthy
strong
and
healing
whether I want to
or not…

Thank you! I may have to borrow that chisel out of your garage soon🤪

Well, the chisel isn’t here. My Dad may still have it. Oops, now you know some more.
