I love finding the perfect gift.
The thought required.
The search and intent to find it.
Listening for clues.
Solving the puzzle.
Seeing or hearing the joy of the recipient gives me great joy in return.

When questioned every year, “What do you want for Christmas?” or “What do you want for your birthday?”
My response is always the same, “Nothing, I have everything I need and more.”
My perfect gifts are intangible.
Gifts of love, time, memories, (and pictures).
Love is the only thing we take with us when we die,
time spent together is how memories are made,
pictures are how I will remember the memories when my memory is gone.
I already have so many gifts:
my children
grandchildren
friends
and intact self-respect.
I have experienced soul-bending love, excruciating loss, extreme hardship,
and unbelievable ecstacy in this life with the milestone birthday in 28 days.
I feel so much gratitude for all these things that I need nothing more,
nothing,
ever.
Because the perfect gifts are chosen with thought and intent –
they are not material, but come from the heart.

Tokens are fun and sometimes they help the emotionally challenged show emotion. your choices are of course wonderful but hard to see in our strange word world. I answer this question “Surprise Me” That way I can bask in the thought processes that brought them to whatever conclusion they came up with

Lovely thoughts as the marerial holds little meamoing. I’m feeling a bit bahumbug about the holidays since we’re not going anywhere to warrent new anything etc. I usually do a big shin dig and stockings and I’m shifiing but I’m afraid my kids aren’t ready for all of this. I’m just content with the treasured things like nature and litte pleasures, walking, sitting and I can’t participate in just ordering crap and wrapping creating more mess for the environment. trying to come up with creative ways to share and i think I’ll let the kids be the driving force. ❤️

I agree with all that you’ve written…. isn’t it ironic that we have become our mom? Lol! I do, however, feel sorry for my niece and nephew, because I remember how frustrating it was to try and figure out the perfect gift for our parents!!!
