Happy Birthday in Heaven

Fake Birthday 2019

Today is my Love’s first earth birthday since he passed nine months ago.

As expected, I woke up crying. Decided to go Facebook dark because memories are so very painful today.

But yesterday is what I came to write about:

I told my daughter-in-love that I was missing him because it was the first night of Passover and his birthday is today.

Not 10 minutes later, the phone rang:

Me: “Hello”

Life Insurance Salesman (Oh the irony): “Can I speak to Lawrence?”

Me: “I’m sorry, but he’s dead.”

Dumbass Life Insurance Salesman Dude: “But we got a website inquiry for a life insurance policy for him.”

Me: “That’s impossible because he’s been dead for nine months.” (Note, my phone number, not his).

Asshole Life Insurance Salesman: “Well I’ll call back later. “

Me: “Don’t bother he’s still going to be dead.” – Click

After I hung up, I almost cried, and then started laughing hysterically.

I don’t know how the salesman got my number, Larry’s name, and happened to call on the day before his birthday, but it would be just like my Love to arrange it all just to let me know he’s still around.

Message received. But trust me, you didn’t have to go to all that trouble to put yourself front-and-center in my mind.

So happy birthday my Love. Celebrate! I’m sure your Mom is singing to you. Don’t worry, we still miss you like crazy. It’s Passover this year on your birthday (again), so (in my best soup-nazi voice) “No Cake For You”.

In my heart forever,

XO Lisa

  4. Scam calls are the worst, but maybe if you throw in a sense of humor from the afterlife…
